History

The Good News project started on Christmas in the year 1995. The goal was to restore the tradition of caroling. The aim is to help the suffering countries of the third world.

1. year 1995/1996

3000 young people have gone for the first time to spread a joyfull word about a birth of Jesus Christ. By doing this, young people raised money for children in Africa
The first courses have been established for people involved
From the outcome of 1 123 719 Sk a project for Nairobi children has been supported
First meeting with a project partner – Sister Mary Killeen
A videotape has been published called Mungu akubariki
First Good news newspaper was published

2. year 1996/1997

Carolers recieved a thankful greeting from the Nairobian children.

3. year 1997/1998

The first accomplished church services connected with sending the carolers to Banska Bystrica, Nitra, Spiššská Nová Ves.
First project trip to Uganda, Kena and Sudan done by  Maroš Čaučík
The Good News project is for the first time supporting Sudan
Campaign called: Piece for Sudan
Campaign called: Global march against child labour.

4. year 1998/1999

The patrons of Good News were appointed:
st. František z Assissi,
st. František Xaverský
st. František Saleský,
The first volunteer of eRKO – Petra Húšťavová participated in a 4 week volunteer program of Austrian DKA organization in Ghana
Slovak Carolers have been for the first time accepted by Austrian prezident Thomas Klestil

5. year 1999/2000

Good News project gained an award given by SAIA “The heart in your hands” under the aegis of the SR president.
The carolers were accepted by SR president Rudolf Schuster

6. year 2000/2001

The Journal of Good News project has gained a new format and colors
For the first time a material with proposal for preparing the caroling has been published for the responsible people
7. year 2001/2002
It is the first time that partner from Sudan visits Slovakia – Cardinal Gabriel Zubeir Wako
It is the first time that a book called caroller is published – a tool for young carollers.
For the first time a newspaper called Rebrík
A first developing seminar called “A weekend about water” has been done. Mr. Peter Nwankwo from Nigeria was present at the seminar.

8. year 2002/2003

The first missionary pilgrimage of children from Rajecka Lesna
First three volunteers were involved in volunteer project of eRKA in Nairobi
Good News has supported the project of Slovak missionarry in Barbetone, South Africa
A CD with carols has been published
I tis the first time that a project trip has been done without a project referent DKA – Maroš Čaučík, Martina Grochálová, Marek Kuboš, sr. Mary Killeen
A document movie about Good News projects was recorded called: Even though I have almost nothing, I can see that God takes care of me”. Also a DVD with three documents and photographs was published.

9. year 2003/2004

A bulletin of Good News has been published in two languages: Slovak and English.
Apostle Henryk Józef Nowacki accepted carolers for the first time
Developing platform of non governmental organizations has been registered.

10. year 2004/2005

Good News celebrated 10 years anniversary
Carolers obtained an award “Human in danger” for help in third world
In an international house for children, Good News has organized interactive exposition called “Lent a hand to children”
The exhibition of photos Habari Africa started
A document about 10 years of Good News work has been published called: “Tell them Siyabonga”

11. year 2005/2006

It is the first time that more than 1000 parishes in Slovakia engaged
We engaged in a campaign called: Make Poverty History
It is the first time of Slovaks caroling Good News in Brussels

12. year 2006/2007

15. year 2009/2010
